Corona was founded in 1886 and was called "The Circle City," because Grand Blvd was constructed as a perfect circle for international road races that took place in the early 1900s. Corona was once a huge part of Southern California's citrus cultivation, and home to the country’s first lemon treatment plant. Corona is a growing community of about 142,000 people, located at the gateway to the Inland Empire, about 45 minutes southeast of Los Angeles at the base of the Cleveland National Forest. Corona is 38 square miles that include skate parks, two movie theaters, 394 park acres, Glen Ivy Hot Springs, The Fender Museum, and five golf courses. Corona is an ideal location for families working in LA or Orange County. Recent added lanes to the 91 freeway have made the commute a bit easier, and the proposed additional 6 lanes that should begin construction in 2012, should really make Corona an even more popular community and increase current home values. Popular with young families, Corona is one of California's fastest growing cities because it’s well manicured neighborhoods and sensible city planning. The Corona/Norco School District is the highest paying district in California and its leadership has weathered the State budget disaster without having to lay off too many teachers and drastically increase class sizes. Corona is a great place to work, as well. Over 62,000 people work in Corona and Corona currently has 5.8 million square feet of office and retail space. Corona, no longer a bedroom community for Orange County, is becoming a predominant city of choice for many families, businesses, and investors.
